How to Identify High-Energy Foods for Your Body

I hope your year is off to a fantastic start! So far, I feel like 2015 is going to be a wild ride. I’ve been participating in a 30 Day Challenge at my fitness center, enrolling new clients in my coaching programs, and working on many behind-the-scenes projects to lovingly support you throughout the year.

There are so many self-love-and-care tools that I want to share with you this year, but today I want to talk a bit about my favorite health topic – food. Why is eating healthy important? Well, I know you know this stuff, but basically the more energy you have, the better you will feel, and the more motivated you’ll be to take care of yourself.

When we feel tired or lack energy, we start making poor choices. On the other hand, when we feel uplifted and positive, we are able to make more conscious choices for ourselves in every area of life.  We simply choose foods that nourish us, give us the most energy, contribute to our highest vibe and naturally crowd out the ones that don’t.

In order to help you identify the foods that will give you the most energy, take a couple of moments to answer these q’s:

1) What foods rob you of energy? Or which foods might you enjoy eating, but then tend to make you feel sluggish or irritable after you eat them?

2) How do you feel when you eat that food? What is the emotion associated with that?

3) Is that in alignment with how you want to feel? (Usually the answer is NO)!

4) So then which foods give you energy?

5) How do you feel when you eat those foods consistently?

6) Is that in alignment with how you want to feel? (Head nods).

You obviously know what’s best for you! Now I know this isn’t rocket science, but sometimes we forget and tend to default to consuming the food (or beverage) that doesn’t serve our body or our life. Usually this is done with an intention to de-stress or self-soothe, which isn’t necessarily bad, but perhaps we can learn to make more conscious choices.

The tip here is simply to focus on adding in more of what is in alignment with how you want to feel. The not-so-good-for-you stuff will naturally crowd out. This is how we start nurturing a healthy relationship to our bodies and food. We train ourselves to feel pulled towards supportive habits versus self-destructive ones. Do this consistently and you’ll be vibrating at a higher frequency!
